I never used to be a garbage collector; in fact I will be lying if I will say I never rolled my eyes at the garbage diggers, but as I got more aware of the impact my actions have on our plant I also turned into a “pick up from the street” freak.

Random plastic containers that were collected on recycling night have turned into vegetable pots, pieces of solid wood are stacked in our living room ready to turn into a platform in the back yard, and sticks that were designed to be some sort of decoration are supporting the peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes, all while looking real pretty.

I wouldn’t call myself a dumpster diver quite yet, but I am very excited about this beautiful piece of furniture I found on the street last night and it is a piece like this one that encourage me to keep my eyes open and not be afraid of picking someone else’s trash of the street.

Garbage night in Park Slope might be the only time I ever wishes I had a car.

Come visit and if you will behave I will let you rest your feet on my ottoman.
